OUR HONOR CODE “Today is a new day. I will do many good things today. I will learn new ideas. I will learn to help myself and others. I will be a good citizen today. I will not lie. I will not cheat. I will not steal. I will not tolerate those who do so. Working together we will become a strong school family.” |
Our mission is to do “Whatever It Takes” to ensure that young children living in very poor, troubled neighborhoods will grow up to be successful adults. Since 1967 Chillum Youth Project has been serving youngsters who live in the midst of poverty, crime, gangs, drugs and family instability along the Maryland/District of Colombia border. In the spring and fall we hold a program on Saturdays in which children explore many interesting learning sites outside of their community. Reading, history, and math skills are incorporated in these learning adventures. We make a long-term commitment to our children. As they grow in the program they develop leadership skills, which they later use to teach their younger counterparts that join the program. Chillum Youth Project is a classic youth-to-youth organization
